TURNING DATA INTO INFORMATION FOR NEW BUSINESS.

Interactive Presentations are in the business of delivering sophisticated and comprehensive interactive solutions for organisations who have data to share ... or sell. We want information to be on-line and accessible and that may involve a public web-site, an intranet or just a CD-Rom. The principles are the same; creative and technical expertise directed towards a practical and cost-effective result.

We can incorporate powerful features such as database integration and on-line transaction systems to, for example, enable your customers to request information and to place orders electronically. Data that normally lies hidden on individual PCs can be leveraged into new information service functions to provide radical and exciting opportunities for business. In this way technology can open up new markets which previously were difficult or expensive to approach.

Business opportunities

If you use the web, you'll be aware of the increasing number of organisations that are grabbing these opportunities with both hands. From small bed & breakfast establishments in Cornwall selling direct to the American tourist or giant corporations selling goods on-line through secure credit-card transactions, they are all reaching customers who previously could not or might not buy from them. Importantly for small organisations, the playing field is a great deal more level as they can reach the same new customers in new countries as larger companies without the large investment necessary to achieve this in the past. Once they have those customers, there are more possibilities over the web to nurture the relationship with specialised support and sales offers. The customer relationship can be targeted directly by email and specific information selection to appeal to an individual.

Intranet

And it need not be -on the internet. Many organisations start by developing web-based applications internally on an intranet to distribute information amongst departments and understand the potential for the web browser platform for systems development. At a basic level, updating of product information can be provided from a single source without any necessity for paper; the update appears on the screen immediately for everyone and can be flagged as new. Other applications will develop along the same theme as the internet by browser-based linkages to databases inside and outside the company, combining information from many sources.

Much of the systems development process is simplified by using web technology because compatibility problems between different hardware and operating systems become less. There remains a need for a focussed approach with well-defined objectives and solid project management as with any new IT activity, but the speed and response to change that can be achieved with web developments give users the chance to contribute and drive the development process.

Interactive Business Information Systems

The techniques used to create the information systems for museums can be developed for business use. Your customers can browse through a presentation system about your Company and your products or through your catalogue. You can keep the information up-to-date and it can be delivered over the internet.
