Overview |
| Rapid Development Service The Rapid Development Service is designed to allow busy lecturers or subject matter experts to create professional quality, online learning applications quickly and effectively, without the need of extensive training. When creating online learning applications many of the input pages are standard, whether they are simple text graphic pages or have more complex interactions such as drag & drop. The key to this service is the creation of a series of templates which have the necessary functionality already built in. All that the lecturer or subject matter expert has to do is to add content. To add the text content, the lecturer fills out simple forms. Graphics can be added at a click of a button. Complex interactions can be added by dragging objects to their correct location. The content is stored in text files on the lecturer’s PC. The text files store both the text content and the names of any graphic used in the online application. The graphic files themselves are stored in known directories or folders on the lecturer’s PC. The lecturer can see the interactive page that he or she has been creating. Once the lecturer is satisfied with the content he or she will send the text files and the graphic files to Interactive Presentations. Interactive Presentations then build the final application (the online book seen by the students). The resulting files can be loaded onto a server or returned to the lecturer for testing. Using the service as provided significantly reduces
the cost of creating online applications.
